Sports Massage is not just for athlete's - everyone can benefit, whether you have a physically demanding job or if you enjoy physical activity. It is used to help keep muscles supple, improve muscle tone, joint mobility, improve flexibility, reduce the risk of injury and breakdown of scar tissue.
What is it?
Sports Massage is not just for the athletes competing in events and competitions. Anyone can benefit from sports massage – including people in physically demanding jobs, those that enjoy physical activity in the gym or fitness classes and those not quite so obvious (occupational, emotional and postural stress/tension may produce similar characteristics to sport soft tissue injuries). Rehabilitation Sport Massage uses soft tissue techniques to help speed healing and reduce discomfort and in treating muscular conditions like contracted fibres, inflammation, sprains and strains, for both acute and chronic injuries. Trigger point techniques reduce the spasm and pain that occurs both in the injured and the compensating muscles.
